1st Place Professional Male: $1,000 + Trophy

AMATEUR CATEGORY (Non-Professional)
1st Place Amateur Male: $500 + Trophy
2nd Place Amateur Male: Trophy

QUALIFYING ROUNDS:
Week 1: Friday August 18th
Week 2: Friday August 25th
Week 3: Friday September 1st
Week 4: Friday September 8th
Week 5: Friday September 15th
GRAND FINALS: Friday, September 22nd 2017

RULES & REGULATIONS:
(1) Costumes are required.
(2) Routine should be 80-100% Salsa and 1 minute & 15 seconds in length MAXIMUM including intro. You will be disqualified if your routine exceeds the time limit.
(3) Professional competitors are individuals who have won professional competitions, get paid to teach/perform, director/assistant director of dance companies.
(4) Amateur Division are competitors who generally do not receive compensation for teaching or performing.
(5) Qualifying rounds are judged by audience response.
(6) Finals are judged by professional judges + audience response.
(7) All decisions are final.
(8) Competitors must pre-register with Alejandro Delatorre (AlexAtGranada@gmail.com) or Laura Luu (Laura@SalsaIntocable.com) and qualify to enter the Finals. You must arrive by the designated CALL-TIME on the night of competition, otherwise you may be disqualified.

JUDGING CRITERIA
1. Choreography – How is routine laid out, the execution and difficulty of routine.
2. Musicality — How well the dancer interprets the music, its highs & lows, breaks, and various instruments & beats.
3. Timing – Is the dancer consistent with their timing? Or are they breaking on different counts every time?
4. Technique — How well the dancers execute the moves technically, i.e. clean spins, lines, control, salsa fundamentals
5. Stage Presence & X-factor — Confidence and presence on stage from entrance, throughout routine and exit
6. Audience response – How well do the dancers capture, excite and hold the audience’s attention
